Railroad Days is an annual celebration of all things train and track! Celebrate Council Bluffs' rich railroad heritage and historic place in history as Mile Zero for the Union Pacific Railroad. In 2026, Railroad Days returns bigger and better than ever—expanding to a two-day event on Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day. 

This year’s celebration is extra special as it aligns with National Train Day (May 10) and America’s 250th birthday, offering an unforgettable tribute to what makes Council Bluffs and the metro area so iconic—our powerful tie to railroads. Railroad Days will be woven throughout the weeklong Celebrate CB festivities (May 3–9), culminating with the Celebrate CB Parade on May 9. The expanded schedule provides additional access to visitors and more chances to engage with train-themed activities and experiences across the city. With the Celebrate CB Parade kicking things off Saturday morning, Railroad Days gives attendees a perfect way to continue their adventure through town. 

Whether you're a lifelong train enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable weekend with family and friends, Railroad Days delivers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to explore interactive exhibits, hop aboard historic locomotives, ride iconic trolleys, and connect with Council Bluffs' unforgettable past.

Passes for the family-friendly event are $20 per group, which includes two adults and unlimited children under 18. An additional adult pass can be purchased for $10. Tickets may be purchased online. On the day of the event, tickets will also be available at the Union Pacific Railroad Museum and Historic General Dodge House. Guests who arrive at the RailsWest History Museum can hop on the trolley to the Historic General Dodge House to pick up wristbands. 

Advance ticket holders can redeem their purchase at the Union Pacific Railroad Museum or Historic General Dodge House to receive wristbands, which grant unlimited trolley access and entry to all participating locations.
