Over 80 Community Members Attend First Legislative Coffee of 2026
The Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its first Legislative Coffee of the 2026 session on Saturday, February 14th at Wilson Middle School. More than 80 community members attended the public forum to hear updates from the Capitol and participate in open dialogue on issues impacting the Council Bluffs community and region.
State Representative Brent Siegrist and State Senator Dan Dawson provided an overview of the legislative session to date, which Representative Siegrist described as being “off to a slow but fast start.” Topics discussed during the forum included property tax reform proposals, public policy priorities, and other legislative issues currently under consideration at the Statehouse.
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions during the forum, with both legislators addressing more than a dozen inquiries from community members. Following the discussion, Representative Siegrist and Senator Dawson remained to speak individually with attendees, continuing conversations and answering additional questions.
The Chamber’s Legislative Coffee series is designed to connect local business leaders and residents with elected officials, fostering meaningful dialogue and encouraging civic engagement throughout the legislative session.
