Program Associate - Early Head Start Expansion Program

Firefly is seeking a compassionate, organized, and mission-driven Program Associate to support our Early Head Start team. This role plays a vital part in strengthening families, supporting Parent Educators, and promoting healthy child development. Key Responsibilities

The Program Associate will:

Support Parent Educators by providing educational, emotional, and resource assistance to families.

Engage with families during home visits and assist in completing individualized lesson plans.

Collect and record statistical data—including screenings and caregiver/child interaction assessments—as required by grant guidelines.

Build strong community connections by learning and leveraging available resources to help families access needed services.

Conduct developmental screenings for children; clearly interpret results to parents, supervisors, and professionals; and report any concerns or delays.

Model and reinforce developmentally appropriate and positive caregiver-child interactions.

Maintain strict confidentiality and communicate effectively with parents, team members, and community agencies.

Plan and implement culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate activities for individuals and groups.

Assist in verifying enrollment eligibility and ensure accurate data entry in ChildPlus.

Work a flexible schedule—including some evenings and weekends—to meet family and program needs.

Follow all Firefly policies, procedures, and program requirements.

Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required: Child Development Associate (CDA – Infant/Toddler).

Preferred: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.


1–2 years of knowledge and training in infant and child development.

2–3 years of experience working in a child development or early childhood program.

Strong observational skills with the ability to accurately report on child and family functioning.

Successful experience working in childcare or early learning environments.

Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.

Ability and willingness to successfully complete background checks, drug screening, and any required state or federal clearances.
